This week, Caribu is launching a summer reading challenge, #CampCaribu! It is the world’s first summer reading program that you can experience together in a video-call. The program includes 100 days of activities, featured books, and weekly themed reading categories with challenges and prizes to keep kids on track for the next school year. #CampCaribu will help keep the kids engaged and entertained while parents work from home and continue to be mindful of social distancing. It’s 100 days of summer reading in your pocket!
#CampCaribu’s first week will kick-off with the theme, ‘Courageous Conversations.’ Join us as we launch discussions around anti-racist texts, and ask questions that inspire reflection on each person’s role in advocating for change. Consider ways that your family members can take action for justice and equity, from small acts of friendship to larger gestures of peaceful protest.
During each week of #CampCaribu, we will post the week’s schedule of featured books and daily activities on the main #CampCaribu Page. Caribu users also will receive the weekly schedule in their Caribu e-mail newsletter. Kids can download our reading log to help them keep track of their daily reading. Each Monday, your child(ren) will receive an Achievement Certificate and online badge to recognize their progress and celebrate their hard work.
To receive the free #CampCaribu weekly activities and challenges, families can go to caribu.com/summer to download the app, create an account, and then enjoy their access. Sign up today so your child will be eligible for the ‘100 Day Summer Reading Streak’ challenge prize!
As the week begins, mark your calendar to reserve time for daily Caribu Calls with friends and relatives. Pick a time each day of the week that works for you and suggest a standing weekly date with the family! In #CampCaribu, Tuesdays are designated especially for a call with grandparents or grandfriends, so make sure to book some time with them for reading and discussion. Help your kids with their summer reading goals and keep up their daily reading streak on Caribu throughout the week.
