The Caribu Team

Max Tuchman

Max

Co-Founder + CEO

Max has had a 15+ year career in Education and Management, but is most proud of winning the award for most books read in all of the 4th grade at Pinecrest Elementary. A story lover since the womb, as a child she credits the Spanish nursery rhyme “Los Pollitos Dicen” and Goodnight Moon with making her fall in love with bedtime stories, as a teen, R.L. Stine, Christopher Pike, and Marvel Comic Books with making her definitely blow past her bedtime, and now counts The Alchemist and anything by Jodi Picoult as the books she turns to when she finds time to get five minutes of pleasure reading in.

Max knows almost every level of education from being a public school teacher, a consultant at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Executive Director of Teach For America, and manager of education projects under NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and DC Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee. Before co-founding Caribu, Max was appointed by President Obama to serve as a White House Fellow at the Treasury Department. She is a first-generation American and college student and a graduate of the Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs and the Miami Fellows Leadership Program. Max is a 2018 Toyota Mother of Invention and received her MBA & MPP from Harvard.

Tiffany LaFleur

Tiffany

Head of Design

Tiffany is a Kansas City native, who for 7-years prior to Caribu, was a Senior Digital Designer for The Walt Disney Company. Tiff led art, UX/UI and marketing design on over 60 apps and 100 eBooks with the team. Her experience expands beyond digital, having also worked in educational publishing for RR Donnelley, and in advertising for Garmin International.

Her favorite place to be is in the great outdoors—be it hiking or camping. When she’s not wearing a designer’s hat, she finds time to conquer escape rooms, collect Disney toys, be a winery aficionado, sports fanatic, environmental enthusiast and Jedi. Tiffany’s favorite reads are The Chronicles of Narnia series, which is why she’s so passionate about Caribu—it allows children to dream, imagine and create awesome memories, through the power of reading.
